Soho Enamel Jewelry
Though years separate the beginnings of Etruscan enamel design and
the 1994 launch of SOHO, Ceava Kats' collection of fine enamel
jewelry is a testament to bridging distant cultures and eras in the
pursuit of beautifully crafted jewelry. The son of Russian master
jeweler Jakob Kats and jewelry designer Olga Schmidt, Ceava founded
SOHO on the notion that enamel jewelry design needed to be updated
from a lost ancient art into an expression of contemporary elegance
and beauty.
Each Italian handcrafted SOHO jewelry collection not only consists
of intricate bracelets, earrings, necklaces and brooches infused
with diamonds, but 18kt gold and "foliage," a closely guarded
secret family method of embellishing enamel with gold leafing. It
takes 20 skilled craftsmen more than 80 dedicated hours to
create each intricate enamel bracelet. Because of the complex
handcraftsmanship of these Italian artisans and the individual
approach to each piece of jewelry, no two bangles are exactly the
same.
The SOHO jewelry collection caters to the independent,
fashion-savvy woman and has garnered the interest of Hollywood
celebrities including Halle Berry, Hilary Duff, Kate Winslet, Jada
Pinkett Smith, Sandra Oh and Sarah Chalke. Avid collectors include
Lindsay Lohan, Gloria Estefan, Paulina Rubio, Ciara and Whitney
Houston.
