JOHN HARDY
The story of John Hardy jewelry starts in 1975
when the young Canadian art student John Hardy moved to the fabled
Indonesian island of Bali and began to study Balinese
jewelry-making techniques with a master artisan whose ancestors
were goldsmiths to the island's former royal courts. As John
adapted these techniques to fresh new designs, he formed the
company in 1989.
Guy Bedarida, a senior designer for Van Cleef & Arpels,
joined John Hardy as Head Designer and helped develop the John
Hardy workshop and design center in the central highlands of Bali
near Ubud.
Iconic John Hardy must-have pieces are his magnificent
cuff-style bracelets from the Dot, Naga, Palu or Macan
collections.
From the beginning the jewelry company contemplated its
eco-footprint and decided to do something about it. In 2006, the
Sustainable Advertising project was launched to support the concept
of Sustainable Luxury: giving back to nature while using natural
resources for business.
In 2007, John Hardy decided to retire and sell the company to
Damien Demoncourt and Guy Bedarida. The duo continues the company's
mission of becoming greener everyday and the collaboration of
Designers and Artisans. While preserving the heritage and
values of the company they have managed to upgrade the brand to a
new level of luxury appeal and international recognition.
Available in Denver and Phoenix store locations.
