The Tycoon Cut is a diamond design created in 1999, which holds
four international patents.
The Tycoon Cut is a simple design with 9 crown facets, and 20
step-cut pavilion facets. The cut has a unique, diamond-shaped
table that has earned it the trademark slogan, “The only
diamond with a diamond on top.”
It is said that the first rule of design is “less is more,” and
that is the magic of the Tycoon Cut: It is, in fact, a very simple
design. There are many new cuts available today on the market,
but unlike some other cuts, the uniqueness of the Tycoon Cut is
that it’s visible to the naked eye.
The Tycoon Cut design adds more fire and brilliance to the diamond.
The step-cut pavilion design accentuates the stone’s color.
And the 9 crown facet design hides inclusions better than traditional
square tables.
The Tycoon Cut diamond is available in rectangular, tapered, square,
trapezoid, and cut-corner shapes. Every Tycoon Cut diamond, 0.50
carat and larger, is serial numbered, GIA graded, and laser inscribed
to ensure authenticity.
GIA was quick to recognize Tycoon Cut as a major contributor to
the diamond industry. The first Tycoon Cut diamond is on display
in the GIA’s museum, and a GIA classroom is even named after
the cut.
